Suzuki Piano Teacher - Lianne Wong

The Suzuki method is a music teaching method which is based on the music education philosophy of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.  A qualified Suzuki teacher must receive Suzuki teacher's training. With strong musical backgrounds and the love for children, Lianne teaches with passion and devotion.  She said," As a Suzuki piano teacher, I am most amazed to see how the Suzuki method works.  Every child can play so well!"

Lianne Wong is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. She also holds the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (L.R.S.M.) of England and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese Language and Literature. She is  an active member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Assocaition (ORMTA).

Her interest to become a Suzuki piano teacher started when she read books written by Dr. Suzuki.  Later, in a teacher’s training institute, she observed  Mrs. Haruko Kataoka teaching piano lessons. Mrs. Kataoka was the master piano teacher who had worked with Dr. Suzuki closely in Japan. Lianne was very impressed by what was demontrated at the piano lessons such as her approach to each technical point, the production of beautiful tone, and the improvement she was getting from each student.  Lianne then studied Suzuki method of teaching with several Suzuki trainers and attended many training sessions. She had taught in St. John’s Newfoundland with Suzuki Talent Education Programs (STEP), and at the Atlantic Suzuki Institute. In London Ontario, she had taught at Children Talent Education Center (CTEC) under Dorothy Jones, and Suzuki Academy of Music at Nancy Campbell Collegiate Institute.

After more than twenty years of being a Suzuki teacher, she is absolutely convinced of Dr. Suzuki’s discovery.  She has never seen a student who cannot play the piano and play it well. Every child can! Her students frequently receive scholarships and trophies from music festivals. Some of them had been chosen by the Kiwanis Music Festival to represent the city of London to compete at the provincial level and won. One of her students was awarded the Silver Medal for the Atlantic Region by the Royal Conservatory of Music, a most distinguished award which recognizes the highest piano examination marks in the grade.

"Children are like seeds.  When they are planted in the proper environment of soil, sunshine, water, and nutrients, they will grow.  We don't ever question the law of nature."
