Testimonials

Thanks to all of our Suzuki families who have been so supportive of their children’s music lessons and our music program. We are truly blessed by your testimonials!

“During my 35 years of teaching in elementary schools I had witnessed many students taking music lessons from a variety of sources. The students taking music lessons by the Suzuki method appeared to achieve longer lasting results. They seemed to thrive on their achievements and were always eager to show off their newly learned skills. Now that my two grand-daughters have been taking piano lessons through the Suzuki method, I know my daughter made a good choice. I watch them learning to play the piano and having fun as they move from one skill level to another. Of course, having a good Suzuki piano teacher also plays an important role in their achievement and certainly helps them enjoy piano lessons.” (Adele Martin)

My son has been with the Suzuki music program since he was four weeks old. He started in the Baby program where he developed a strong sense of rhythm at a very early age and continued with Suzuki piano lessons starting when he was three and a half. He is now nine years old and demonstrates an excellent musical ability including a sense of pitch that is unusually strong. He has been able on numerous occasions to sit at the piano without music and play simple songs that he has listened to. He excels academically which, I believe, is strongly related to his training in music. Suzuki piano lessons has been a very positive influence in shaping his abilities and education and I would highly recommend the music program.” (Jeff Paul)

“ I was attracted to the Suzuki method of music training because I wanted my children to develop an ear for music. As a conservatory-trained pianist in my own childhood, I learned how to play music by reading musical notes. My son, conversely, can listen to a song a few times and then begin to work it out on the piano. Even though the method is not a method that teaches children to play by ear, the abilities which he has developed from taking Suzuki piano lessons let him have fun and ‘jam’ with the other musicians in our family.” (Lisa Bildy)

"Matched with effective communication skills and great appreciation for music, Ms Lianne Wong translates her passion and love for music into her students. She is an inspirational teacher who meets her students where they are at, customizes her teaching methodology while paying attention to required techniques, details and provides the necessary support for parents. In doing so, she maximizes each student's skills, capabilities and talents as they play the piano, resulting in great tone of music notes played for music genres."  (The Arku family)

"My son, now 7, had been taking traditional piano lessons for 1&1/2 years. Although he could play all the right notes, something was missing. There was no beautiful tone and expression. Emphasis was never on mastering the music.  Then I read about Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy that 'talent is no accident of birth….any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability…beautiful tone, beautiful heart'.  In this method, parents attend lessons with the child and serve as 'home teachers'. This was not the case before, where I would sit in a waiting room during his lesson and he would practise by himself.   Suzuki students have group classes and performance in which they learn from and are motivated by each other - a great concept!

After some reflection, I decided to switch. Ms. Lianne Wong's passion for teaching and making beautiful music was evident. She helped us (on her own time) to pick out a piano. In order to play beautifully, you need a decent instrument. She has also taught us the proper posture and hand position, none of which had ever been addressed. Lessons are conducted in a happy and encouraging environment with much enthusiasm, keeping students engaged with the use of practice games, and lots of praise! Group sessions are inspiring, mainly due to her preparation and organization. Her devotion as a piano teacher is refreshing, and I am much pleased with my decision in switching.

As a mother of 4 small children, enrolling my sons in Suzuki piano lessons was a big decision. It requires a lot of time and dedication on my part that I don’t always have. However, the gift of not only learning to play an instrument, but to play an instrument beautifully would be one of the greatest things I can offer my children. As Dr. Suzuki wrote, 'I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.' What more can a parent ask for? " (Christine Nur)

“To our family, Ms. Lianne Wong is more than a Suzuki piano teacher. She is a successful educator. She has inspired our children to love and enjoy music. She also helps them to understand the importance of hard work and discipline, to readily accept challenges, and to manage success and failure. Our daughter has participated in the Kiwanis Music Festival since last year. Because of her very musical playing, she has been awarded with high marks and scholarships.” (Kitty Wong)

"I only wanted my children to have music in their lives – that started our music journey. My daughter began piano lessons at 5. However, the teacher soon moved away. When I heard about the Suzuki Piano Program, we came to study with Ms Lianne Wong. It was one of the best decisions ever!

Ms. Lianne is an inspiring musician and an amazing teacher. She approaches all the students with respect, encouraging them and helping them to see the value in what they can accomplish, taking pride in their work. She constantly instills the virtues of respect, determination, patience, confidence, self-control, and perseverance in them. I am impressed with her dedication, teaching skills and personal attention to each student. Her students all play very well and love music. We have chances to witness each week the development of all these young musicians, the older ones being the models for the younger ones, since the parents are present in lessons, group classes and recitals.

As a parent, my priority for the children to learn to play the piano is to foster their character, sensitivity, and self-discipline. And, I am delighted to see the transformation happening. However, I am also benefited by working closely with my children. Not only have I learned a lot about classical music, I have also learned to be patient, positive, diligent, and to always strive for excellence.  Now with great joy, I am humble to say, my daughter's excellence has been recognized by the Kiwanis Music Festival. She was awarded a trophy and has been the recipient of scholarships for a few years. Consequently, my son also asked for lessons. He has started for less than a year, but already I am seeing his growth. Ms. Lianne has helped us to make music a meaningful part of our lives."   (Lulu Boyce)

"The mother tongue approach is one method which never fails the child."
